First off, thank you to my new customers! Since the last blog, I have done done two events. I didn't meet my financial goals, but I did profit from both...and did them alone which was a struggle! After my first event - Hair Palooza at The Bonham Exchange - I decided that I needed a personal assistant. Well, she was supposed to come with me to the 2nd event, but was a no-show supposedly due to an emergency. But I sucked it up and did the event solo. One thing I realized, most people are looking for cheap bargains at these events. I can accommodate for some products, but because a lot of my brand partners have gone national, I would have to get permission for any discounts higher than 10-20% off (and that's even pushing it).
So, I've decided to limit doing events since I'm probably not going to find a reliable assistant anytime soon (I can be picky). And so far packing/unpacking, driving to the events, setting up/tearing down can be very exhausting and time consuming. The good thing about the events is that I did make some new connections and customers. And I realized that if I really need to, I can do it all by myself...for now.
That's it this go-round...except to let ya'll know that my Mardi Gras event is cancelled. I have so much going on right now and don't want it to be a hot mess. Plus, prom season is coming and that's when MVP has been the busiest. So I'd rather put my time and energy promoting my products and makeup services for prom. And I plan to move MVP to another location in the fall and might have another opening event at the new spot. So keep following and thanks for the support!
Hey dolls! It's been a minute since the last post but I have been working my butt off with multi-tasking. I've been manager, accountant, supervisor since MVP's re-opening and still working full-time. Along with all of that, I had football mom duties from August till last month. Which I am happy to say has ended although I wanted my son and his team to get further in play-offs. But it is nice to be able to re-focus on my boutique.
So on to updates about the boutique. Unfortunately, the grand re-opening did not do as well as the one I did in 2016...which is CRAZY. I actually hired TWO marketing companies to get MVP's name out for me and they both were a FAIL. So I told myself that once my son's football season was over, I would re-focus on marketing on my own. And that's what I am doing. Since business actually decreased after the grand re-opening, I was about to cut my loyal employee Sean loose. But God had a better plan for him and found him another job before that could happen. So now, he is one of my artists as needed and will help with future events since they are on the weekends.
In the meantime, I am back to a one-woman shop except for the weekends when one of the other artists (Treva or Sean) have a client. Treva, Sean, and I are available for makeup services by appointment on Saturdays. Treva and I are also available during the week depending on the day and time. Most recently, I did makeup for Gintare Songaile. She is the wife of Assistant Coach Darius Songaila (yes, their last names are spelled a little differently...it's a cultural thing). He is a former basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs (yes, my team!) and now an assistant coach, which is so cool! Gintare, who is also a model, marketing director from Lithuania, and mom of three beautiful boys, was very sweet and funny. My goal is to keep getting high-profile clients like Gintare, but still making myself available and affordable for everyone else. But I have my goals set much higher and just ask for you, my customers, clients, followers to spread the word about MVP. Although doing makeup and owning my makeup boutique is not my "bread and butter" right now, I would like it to be a continuously growing addition to my entrepreneurial career. One of the ways I thought of helping make that happen a little quicker is to work on my marketing the old-school way (handing out flyers, passing out business cards, attending events that I can network at, become a vendor for events that may need makeup/skin care products, sponsoring my makeup services, cross-promote with other businesses, and start teaching makeup classes).
That brings me to my announcement. MVP will have a Mardi Gras themed party on Saturday, March 2nd from 2-8PM. I will be introducing a few new products from Moira Cosmetics, Crown Brush, and a few other brands. So come out for music, light snacks, drinks, and shopping! I ask YOU once again, my customers, makeup clients, friends, family, and followers to help get the word out about MVP so I can grow my boutique and help our community grow.
Happy August, dolls! Well, we've been working hard to get new products to MVP and were fortunate to get two immediately: Floss Gloss Nail Lacquers (available now) and Sigma Beauty (available late August). We also have a teeth-whitening brand coming soon and more pro makeup artistry products inbound!
Since Halloween is around the corner, Diana (the owner) decided to get some costume makeup kits from Graftobian and Mehron Makeup. So we hope you'll come out and shop the products when they arrive (the first shipment is available August 25th). As we get closer to October, more products will be available. And since we've had some customer feedback about the affordability of some of the products, we will try to get more items affordable to some of our beauty school students and millennial customers. So, AJ Crimson Beauty is on hold for now. But the goal is to get them to MVP for our pro artists.
Lastly, the grand re-opening mixer is set for Saturday, October 20th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. We will have free gift bags for our first 15 visitors, refreshments, and a raffle prize for one lucky guest! Make sure you follow us on Instagram & Facebook for updates. And remember, we are currently open but still working on decorating and constantly bringing in new products. See ya'll soon!

Hey dolls! We are finally reopened, have a new team of employees, and are excited to bring in new brands in the coming weeks. First up is AJ Crimson Beauty! This brand has some pretty amazing crème foundations with 12 shades available (and especially focused on women of color). They are made from bees wax, are cruelty-free, and paraben-free. MVP will also sell lippies (glosses, matte lipsticks, and metallic lipsticks) from AJ Crimson Beauty. So if you live in San Antonio, be sure to stop by! Hello beauties! We know it's been a couple of months since the fire occurred and we'd like to thank everyone who called or messaged Diana (the owner). She is so appreciative and will keep everyone posted thru Instagram and Facebook! Our biggest losses from the fire were the bookcases and some of the products that sat in the smoke-filled environment with no air conditioning for weeks (like the liquid foundations). So we will have a lot of inventory to restock. Some of the brands we are excited to bring back are Graftobian and Mehron Makeup (both have Special EFX makeup which will be great for Halloween). Diana is also looking at an additional independent brands that sell makeup brushes, skincare products, and makeup tools.
As soon as architectural renovations are done, we'll work on getting the store up and running with a re-grand opening (cross your fingers for September)! While we are all waiting for MVP to reopen, make sure to follow Diana's daughter, Leilani (https://www.youtube.com/user/leilaniorange). She's an aspiring makeup artist and beauty blogger. Diana's also working on her own mink lash line that will be primarily sold online (follow her here for updates - https://www.facebook.com/lealaimatafaobeauty) . She will also be looking to hire more employees at the new location (accepting resumes soon) and partnering with local vendors for quarterly events (businesses interested can send her a message via the "Contact" tab).
That's it for now. Remember to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates!
Hello beauties! How many of you have trouble getting your false lashes to blend with your real lashes? Well, if you love makeup and have been on Instagram lately, then you have seen an amazing min-eyelash curler emerge thanks to celebrity makeup artist, Gaby Torell and her husband (a military veteran). The Reveal Beauty mini-eyelash curly is rapidly becoming a staple in every makeup artist's kit. But this tool is not just for makeup artists! Anyone who loves to wear lashes needs the mini-eyelash curler (available at MVP March 8th).
Hello beauties and Happy Belated New Year! We are happy to announce some new products coming to MVP. We will also be discontinuing products, so follow our Instagram page for updates! While we have favorites like Crown Pro (also known as Crown Brush), we also have some brands that were big misses with our local community. So we've been asking for more input from YOU! And you told us that you like brands like Morphe (who doesn't???) and Colour Pop (again, who doesn't???). Unfortunately, some of those "cult favorites" do not allow sales of their products other than from their own company. And unfortunately, that means that they can only be bought online or tradeshows. But, we are trying to get in more brands and new products from some of our best sellers. So, here's a quick run down of a few new brands and products coming or already at MVP:
Lilly Lashes (Luxury Collection) - AVAILABLE NOW
Lilly Lashes (3D Mink Lashes) -COMING SOON
Icona Lashes (premium synthetic lashes) - AVAILABLE NOW
Skindinavia Post-Recovery Makeup Spray - ON ORDER

MVP's owner, Diana is not a quitter. So you might see some of the "NOT AVAILABLE..." items turn into "COMING SOON" in the future (think positive!). Plus, she has lots more brands that have said "yes", but she has not committed to yet. On a final note, the brow bar is FINALLY done. There's just a couple of tweaks before we start booking appointments. Enjoy your week, follow us on social media, and if you have a product or brand you'd like to see at MVP, drop us a line! Have a wonderful day!!!
